This webinar introduces a new national paediatric palliative care e-learning resource that is nearing launch across Aotearoa New Zealand. Developed to support health professionals caring for children and young people with complex health conditions, the resource aims to improve access to practical, evidence-informed paediatric palliative care education regardless of geographical location or clinical setting. The presentation will explore the journey of developing the e-learning, including collaboration and consultation with paediatric palliative care services, Māori and Pacific health professionals, and clinicians across Aotearoa. It will provide an overview of the content and demonstrate how the resource aims to strengthen generalist paediatric palliative care capability, promote culturally safe and equitable care, and ultimately improve experiences for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
Vicki Chennells is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Palliative Care with Rei Kōtuku, Wellington Regional Paediatric Palliative Care Service. She has more than 15 years of paediatric oncology and palliative care experience in the United Kingdom and Aotearoa New Zealand, working across hospital, hospice and community settings. Vicki is passionate about improving equitable access to paediatric palliative care and supporting health professionals to feel confident caring for children and young people and their whānau.
