Luba obtained her original nursing qualification in Slovakia in 1986. She immigrated to New Zealand in 1996 and started practising here as a registered nurse in 1998.
Luba completed a Master in Health Sciences (Nursing-Clinical) with Distinction in 2013 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (Pain and Pain Management) in 2017, both through the University of Otago.
In the past 11 years, Luba has worked as a clinical nurse specialist and a member of a small but dedicated interdisciplinary pain team in Timaru Hospital. Her clinical focus is the psychosocial aspect of persistent pain experience. She has a special interest in pain education and mindfulness-based psychological interventions, particularly acceptance and commitment therapy.
Luba joined the NZPS in 2007 and was elected a council member in 2018.
